Introducing The Mutual Fund Online Job Index
Starting September 1 and on the first of each month thereafter, MFC will publish data that will help interested observers track the relative strength of the mutual fund job market. Since so many jobs are routinely posted online, the total count of jobs shown on corporate and career web sites will be used as a proxy for overall hiring activity.
The Mutual Fund Online Job Index � is powered by Indeed, the most comprehensive search engine for jobs.
The baseline job index number, against which future online posting data will be compared, was established August 1 reflecting on the median number of pertinent mutual fund - related job postings in July (15,663). The index published on the first of each month will show the percentage change in the median number of postings for the prior month.
The Indeed search tool was added to Mutual Fund Careers.Com in June 2005. It enables site visitors to quickly view jobs offered through hundreds of other web sites, including major job boards, leading newspapers and employer sites.
Initially the Index will report mutual fund industry jobs, but other types of businesses in money management (such as hedge funds and insurance) will be added in the future. We will also report data by job category later this year.
